CCI-MOSAIC Project Kick-Off at the University of Chicago
October 22, 2024
The Center for Chemical Innovation in Multimodal Observatory for Single Atom Imaging of Chemistry (CCI-MOSAIC) hosted its inaugural event on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Gordon Center for Integrative Science (GCIS) within the James Franck Institute on the University of Chicago campus. This milestone marked the start of a collaborative effort involving students, postdoctoral researchers, and principal investigators (PIs) from the University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC).
Led by Prof. Paul Alivisatos, the event commenced with a review of the center’s ambitious goals to push the boundaries of single-atom chemical imaging. Participants engaged in presentations, brainstorming sessions, and discussions on the center’s research aspirations. The day continued with a networking lunch, a poster session featuring ongoing research, and concluded with a networking dinner, fostering connections and collaborations across institutions.
As part of the National Science Foundation’s Centers for Chemical Innovation (CCI) Program, CCI-MOSAIC aims to address critical, long-term challenges in chemical science. The program supports transformative research that fosters innovation and captivates scientific and public interest. For more information about the CCI Program, please visit the NSF website.
